What's new in v.2.2.0
- 🔥 Previously you had to create a profile for an entire section of a track. With this update, profiles will match your layer's in and out points, allowing you to create profiles for specific sections of a track!
- Cleaned up the 'tails' of profiles which results in cleaner returning to base values in the event that your profile ends mid beat/ mid noise.
What's new in v.2.1.0
- Fixed the very scary message that mac users were getting. Now mac users get a slightly less scary message woohoo! Read the full install guide for an explanation.
- Finally secured the www.freqreact.com domain and launched a much improved website 🎉
What's new in v.2.0.9
- Fixed the JSON bug that was introduced in 2.0.8
- This is the first working version with all of the performance improvements
What's new in v.2.0.8
- More performance improvements! The "Finish Baking" button now takes significantly less time for long files. If your audio file was over 30 minutes, there was a good chance it would never finish... now it will bake it in as little as a minute depending on your CPU.
- I’ve modified how reactor intensity values work. Now, intensity values are added 1:1 to the property you are reacting. For example, if you want a layer to rotate 45 degrees at the peak of your reacting, you would set the reactor to have an X Intensity of 45. Don't ask why it hasn't been configured this way the whole time.
- Bug fixes!
What's new in v.2.0.6
- Loading times reduced SIGNIFICANTLY when you first create/edit a profile. It now takes only a few seconds no matter how long your track is.
- Added Spectrum View keyboard shortcuts. Pg Up/Down goes forward and backwards. Arrow Keys move range box, shift modifier moves it quicker.
- Added random fun loading messages.
Locate
It's never been faster to move around the spectrum view. Zoom in and out with the mouse wheel. Right click and drag to scroll side to side and raise/lower the spectrum height.
Copy Files
Extract the download, and copy both FreqReact.jsx and FreqReact.exe to the following path:
Program Files > Adobe > Adobe After Effects CC (version) > Support Files > Scripts > ScriptUI Panels
Program Files > Adobe > Adobe After Effects CC (version) > Support Files > Scripts > ScriptUI Panels
Restart After Effects
This step is important. If After Effects was already opened, close it and reopen.
Open FreqReact
In After Effects click the ‘Window’ drop down menu and select “FreqReact.jsx” near the bottom. Feel free to resize and place anywhere that works for you in the AE interface.
SmartScreen Notice ⚠️
When you create a profile for the first time, a Windows SmartScreen warning may pop up, mistakenly suggesting FreqReact is harmful. This happens because I’m a new developer and Windows isn’t familiar with me yet. As my reputation grows, these warnings will disappear. It's safe to ignore this by clicking "More Info" and then “Run Anyway.”

Bypass Gatekeeper ⚠️
Apple is very unfriendly to small solo devs like me. I put in a lot of effort to join their developer program and was not successful even though my software is malware free and I have nothing but happy users. Bypassing this alert is the only way to use FreqReact on Mac. To do this, find the FreqReact.app in the scriptUI panels folder. Right-click it and choose “Open.” You’ll see another alert, but this time there’ll be an extra “Open” option. Click that, and FreqReact will open normally from then on.
Find your key
Your key can be found in the FreqReact Receipt email or in your Lemon Squeezy Orders. Copy it for later.
Hit the Activate button
Inside After Effects, open the Spectrum View by creating/editing a FreqReact profile. In the upper left corner of the Spectrum View, there will be a pulsing button that says "Activate FreqReact". Click it to open the Activation window.
Submit your key
Paste your key in the text input. Hit "Activate", and you're all set!
Deactivating a device
As of now, you need to contact me so that I can manually deactivate your device. Send me an email with Deactivate Device in the subject line and the name of the computer in the body. I have plans to one day build a system where this is automated.
